Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Review

What to Expect from Vaporesso Luxe PM40

As its name suggests, the Vaporesso Luxe PM40 is a pod mod with a maximum power output of 40w. However, it differs from other recently released pod mods in that it resembles a pod system more than a mod system in terms of size, style, and features.

Vaporesso Luxe Pm40 bottom

It takes the popular GTX coils and comes with a GTX 0.6ohm Mesh Coil and a GTX 0.8ohm Mesh Coil.

It features sliding adjustable airflow, a 0.69″ OLED screen, and adjustable wattage controlled by a single fire button.

The internal battery is 1800mAh, which is a bit smaller than I expected, but it features a USB-C charging port with a 2A charging rate, meaning it should take less than an hour to fully charge.

Vaporesso also paid great attention to the pod and coil, giving it an "e-liquid self-circulation system" and a "Triple Silicon Coil Structure" to improve its leak-proof design.

I really like Vaporesso's slogan "Mini Got Mightier" for the Luxe PM40; they also claim it's flavorful and durable due to its simplicity.

Design and Build Quality

The Vaporesso Luxe PM40 comes in 4 different colors: Black, Silver, Carbon Fiber, Lava, and Jade, and as you can see, I received the Jade kit.

Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Mod

You might have noticed I didn't specify what materials are used in the specifications; this wasn't a mistake. I left it out because Vaporesso didn't actually put this information anywhere (online or in the manual).

However, the sides/frame of the device are metal, I assume Zinc Alloy, but I can't be sure.

Vaporesso Luxe Pm40 front

The device's size and feel remind me of the Smok Nord 2. It's a good size and shape that fits nicely in the hand, just as I imagined a pod system to look and feel.

The entire device is smooth and well-made; there's nothing about it that feels rough, cheap, rushed, or poorly made.

Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Display

The display panel (35x10 mm) is much larger than the screen itself (18x5 mm). However, I think the screen is a good size; it's simple and easy to see and read.

Vaporesso Luxe Pm40 screen

On the left, there's the coil resistance and puff counter/timer, in the middle is the power setting, and a padlock icon indicating if it's locked.

Then on the right side, there's the battery status, shown both as a percentage and a status bar.

Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Adjustable Airflow

I was pleasantly surprised by the airflow control; I was expecting Vaporesso to create some kind of terrible internal mechanism, but no, it has a sliding handle on the back.

The airflow slots are on the side of the device, with one slot on one side and 2 slots on the other. When you slide the lever, it pulls a cover over the airflow holes, cutting them off.

Vaporesso Luxe Pm40 airflow

It's a rather interesting and surprisingly mechanical approach.

I found the lever to be quite stiff to move even after playing with it for a while, and also, even with the airflow control fully closed, the device still didn't offer a super restrictive draw; in fact, it still allowed for a tight Direct To Lung draw.

Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Button

There's only 1 button on the Vaporesso Luxe PM40, which is the fire button that doubles as the power selection button by pressing it 3 times.

The sides are shiny and smooth, with a satin/matte texture on the front. The button is nicely positioned, feels secure and doesn't rattle, and is easy and pleasant to press.

Its oval shape measures 6.5x10mm, and I think it fits the device quite well.

Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Pod Connection

Without the use of magnets, the Vaporesso Luxe PM40 uses a notch at the front and back of the pod to hold the device in place, utilizing corresponding indentations within the pod port.

The pod is easy to remove and apply, yet it holds quite securely. I haven't experienced any issues with my pod connection while using it.

Vaporesso Convertible PM40 Pod

The Vaporesso PM40 pod itself is quite an interesting thing.

Starting from the bottom of the pod, there's a liquid-free chamber with 2 small holes on each side. In this area, there are 2 O-rings that come on the coil.

At the bottom, in the middle, you install and remove the coils, but there's no information about a fill hole.

There are 2 protrusions on each side of the pod for gripping.

If we remove the black mouthpiece from the clear part of the pod, we can now see the chimney hole, a fill hole, and an air hole to allow air to escape from the pod when filling it.

Inside the fill hole, there's a seal where you need to push the nozzle of your e-liquid bottle. I always like this type of filling design.

The seal prevents liquid from coming back through the fill hole, but inside the mouthpiece, there's a rubber gasket with 2 circles on it. This gasket presses firmly against the fill hole and air hole to prevent leaks.

When reviewing a device, I always use it for a few days before reading the instructions. I believe this is the only way to get a good understanding of how simple and easy a device is to use.

By doing this, I had a lot of trouble trying to remove the mouthpiece from the pod...

However, after reading the instructions, you're not supposed to pull it off, you're supposed to push it... and it's much easier that way.

Vaporesso Luxe PM40 Quick Start Guide

Replacing the GTX Coil

Remove the pod from the device

Holding the pod upside down, insert the coil into the hole at the base of the pod

Press the coil firmly to ensure the top part of the coil slides into the corresponding hole

Fill with E-Liquid

To minimize liquid loss, it's best to change the coil when the pod is as empty as possible.

Filling the Luxe PM40 Cartridge

Remove the pod from the device (Optional but recommended)

Holding the pod firmly by the sides, push the black mouthpiece either forwards or backwards.

Locate the fill hole, which is on one side and contains a black seal.

Insert the e-liquid bottle nozzle and fill the pod

Reapply the drip tip correctly

Wait 5 minutes for the liquid to soak into the coil.

Operations

Power On/Off = Press the Fire button 5 times within 2 seconds

Unlock = Quickly press the Fire Button 3 times.

Lock = The device locks automatically after 5 seconds of inactivity

Adjust Wattage = Unlock the device, the screen will start flashing, press the fire button to move up in wattage (hold to move quickly), wattage cycles from 40w down to 5w

Start Vaping = While in locked status, press the fire button

When you change the coil, the wattage setting changes automatically.

Personally, I think the words "lock" and "unlock" are incorrect; the function actually doesn't lock/unlock anything, it only activates the adjustable wattage setting.
