Salt vs Premium E-Liquid: What Are They and How Do They Differ?

WHAT IS SALT LIQUID?

Also known as salt nicotine, it refers to liquids that contain high nicotine levels.

Salt nicotine is not new, but it has gained popularity and usage in the vaping industry in recent years. For many, especially those new to salt nicotine, it may raise questions: Is it safe? Is it dangerous? Beginners in vaping may feel confused by all the new terms they encounter.

In short summary: just like traditional e-liquids, it is safe and contains significantly fewer harmful substances compared to traditional cigarettes. However, due to the high nicotine levels, frequent and excessive use is not recommended. High nicotine combined with high vapor production is strongly discouraged. For example: high wattage vaping devices such as Vaporesso Revenger, Smok Mag Kit, Luxe, X-Priv should not be used with 20mg - 50mg salt liquids.

Salt liquids are suitable for use in low wattage MTL (mouth-to-lung) devices, referred to as POD MODs. Examples include: Smok Nord, Novo, Caliburn series, Voopoo Drag, and similar models. The most important consideration is whether the individual’s body is compatible with salt nicotine.

-Just because your device supports salt liquid doesn't mean you can comfortably vape it. Everyone's tolerance is different. Therefore, each person should use the nicotine strength suitable for their body. Otherwise, it may cause coughing or throat irritation. For example, if your lifting capacity is 50 kg, you may not be able to lift even 51 kg — but 48 kg would be fine. It’s the same with nicotine: find what works for you and stick with that strength.

-The purpose of salt liquids is to meet high nicotine needs and to reduce overall consumption. The goal is to consume less with higher nicotine and help those with strong cigarette cravings to stop faster. These are liquids containing very high nicotine levels, such as 20–50 mg.

-Salt liquids are not harmful as long as your body can handle them. Otherwise, you may struggle to vape and experience coughing or throat burn.

WHAT IS PREMIUM LIQUID?

-Premium liquids are low-nicotine liquids, starting from 0 mg and going up to 12 mg. They generally have a higher VG than PG ratio, such as 80/20 or 70/30. They are suitable for regular electronic cigarettes and are mostly used in hookah-style devices like Swag, Vaporesso Revenger, Luxe, X-Priv, etc.

-Premium liquids are usually used by individuals who can only tolerate low nicotine. If salt liquids are too strong for you, you can opt for premium liquids with lower nicotine content.

-As we always say, everyone’s body is different. We cannot know your tolerance, so we cannot recommend specific nicotine levels. Users must try different options and determine what nicotine strength works for them. If premium liquids do not satisfy cigarette cravings, users can switch to higher-nicotine salt liquids.

Conversely, if salt liquids feel too strong, users can switch to premium liquids.

WHICH LIQUID IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR DEVICE?

-As mentioned above, salt liquids should not be used in high-wattage hookah-style devices. Salt liquids are only suitable for use in pod mod models.

-In newer pod mod devices with advanced coils, both salt and premium liquids can be used. Models like Smok Nord series, Voopoo Drag series, Caliburn, and many others support both types. Based on your tolerance, you can use whichever nicotine strength suits you — regardless of whether it’s salt or premium liquid.

IN CONCLUSION:

Salt liquids are heavy liquids containing high nicotine (20–50 mg) and are used with pod mod (MTL) devices. Premium liquids, on the other hand, are low-nicotine (0–12 mg) and suitable for standard electronic cigarettes.

In short, the main difference is the nicotine strength.
